Category News

When decorating your home art is an important aspect that can make or break your interior design. At Hamiltons Property Portfolio we love interiors and art so we are featuring some of our favourite local talents.

Lionel Smit's work will create a focal point and add a wow factor to any room in need of a makeover. If you're looking to sell your home, displaying pieces of contemporary art to increase the value and enrich the feel of your property is paramount to selling success.

Lionel Smit is a contemporary artist born in Pretoria, South Africa 1982. He offers us monumental portraiture works on canvas, sculpture, silkscreen, video, and public installations. He seeks to immortalise human expression through his paintings and sculptures. His art inspires a more critical look at human emotion through the cycle of life.

His work has been exhibited locally and internationally in art fairs and prestigious art galleries with a solo exhibition at the Didrichsen Art Museum, Helsinki and various public sculptures being featured in the USA including Union Square, New York City. Miami Art Fair 2014 had him as their featured artist and he also graced the cover of Christie's catalogue in London 2009.

Some more of his work has been exhibited recently at the Faces of Identity, a solo exhibition with Everard Read in London and Premise, a solo exhibition with Everard Read in Cape Town.

His famous painting Kholiswa was awarded the Viewer's Choice Award at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
