Category News

The Western Cape - we know it and we absolutely adore it. Not only is it home to some of the country's most diverse ecological habitats but is also perhaps one of South Africa's most well-known and internationally recognised provinces

Beyond its renown as a world-class tourist destination, there are so many hidden nooks and crannies containing unique and exciting events from local music festivals in Plettenberg Bay to space enthusiasts defining the mysteries of the cosmos through groundbreaking audios and visuals.

If you're thinking of spending some quality time in this serene setting then why not consider some of these incredible local events? Let's explore the hidden wonders of the Western Cape together!

As Yet Untitled - James Webb

As some of you may know, the Karoo offers one of the clearest global views of the night sky. Allowing space enthusiasts and professional astronomers the world over an opportunity to peer into the greater mysteries of the cosmos.

From the distant rumblings of white-dwarf pulsars to the almost Lovecraftian and mind-boggling scale of quasars emanating signals from an unfathomable distance. As Yet Untitled, sponsored by the Norval Foundation, is a special, yet also spiritual viewing of how nature and the cosmos come together.

Sound waves swell into brief crescendos, in sync with the rise, culmination, and setting of the sun, moon, planets, star clusters, and galaxies leaving a powerful impression on those who attend. As Yet Untitled will act as a site for conversation and collaboration through the Foundation's programme of talks, concerts, and other artistic engagements.

Viewings hosted from 2021 - 2023 so don't miss out!

The Knysna Yacht Club Cruise

Knysna - known as the tourist hub of the Western Cape is uniquely situated in the heart of the Garden Route and offers both homeowners and visitors an experience to remember. One of its major attractions remains the estuary which provides an extensive stretch of water enjoyed by boating enthusiasts from all over the country.

While not strictly an event per se, one cannot truly experience the thrill of this local town if they haven't been out on the open waters. Boasting an active dinghy and catamaran following club sailing taking place most Saturday afternoons during the sailing season, you can hire out or make use of your boat and join fellow sailors along for the journey. Marvel at the view of Knysna from the sea, enjoy relaxing cocktails with friends and meet fellow enthusiasts along the way.
